Fillings

Fillings are a common dental treatment used to restore the function and integrity of teeth damaged by decay or minor fractures. The procedure involves removing the decayed portion of the tooth, cleaning the affected area, and filling it with a restorative material, such as amalgam, composite resin, or glass ionomer. This material helps to prevent further decay by sealing off spaces where bacteria can enter. Composite fillings are often chosen for their aesthetic advantages, as they can be color-matched to the natural tooth, making them less noticeable. Properly placed fillings can last for many years, contributing to the overall health and stability of the tooth.

Same Day CEREC Crowns

Same day CEREC crowns are a type of dental restoration that uses advanced CAD/CAM technology to design, fabricate, and place ceramic crowns in a single visit. The process begins with digital impressions of the patient's tooth, which are used to create a 3D model and design the crown with precise specifications. This design is then milled from a block of ceramic material on-site, allowing the dentist to immediately fit and bond the crown onto the prepared tooth. The convenience of CEREC crowns eliminates the need for temporary crowns and multiple appointments, providing a durable and aesthetically pleasing solution. These crowns offer a natural appearance and are strong, making them an ideal choice for restoring function and aesthetics in a single day.

Traditional Crowns and Bridges

Traditional crowns and bridges are dental restorations used to restore function and aesthetics to damaged or missing teeth. A crown, also known as a cap, covers and protects a tooth that is weakened, decayed, or fractured, providing structural support and improving appearance. It is custom-made in a dental laboratory after taking impressions of the prepared tooth and is typically crafted from materials like porcelain, metal, or a combination of both. A bridge consists of two crowns on either side of a gap (called abutment teeth) with a false tooth (pontic) in between, effectively replacing one or more missing teeth. This restoration is permanently fixed in place, offering a durable and stable solution to maintain proper bite alignment and prevent adjacent teeth from shifting.

Dentures and Partial Dentures

Dentures and partial dentures are removable dental appliances used to replace missing teeth and restore oral function and aesthetics. Complete dentures are used when all teeth are missing in either the upper or lower jaw, while partial dentures are utilized when some natural teeth remain. Dentures consist of a gum-colored acrylic base that supports artificial teeth, and they rest directly on the gums, while partial dentures typically include metal or acrylic clasps that attach to the remaining natural teeth for stability. These appliances help improve chewing, speech, and facial appearance, and they also prevent remaining teeth from shifting out of position. Proper care and maintenance, including regular cleaning and periodic adjustments, are essential for comfort and longevity.

Implants

Dental implants are a long-term solution for replacing missing teeth, involving the surgical placement of a titanium post into the jawbone, which acts as an artificial tooth root. This post integrates with the bone through a process called osseointegration, providing a strong and stable foundation for a dental crown, bridge, or denture. Implants are favored for their durability, natural appearance, and ability to preserve jawbone structure, preventing bone loss that typically occurs with missing teeth. They are versatile and can replace single teeth, multiple teeth, or support full arch restorations. Successful implantation depends on adequate bone density and health, making thorough evaluation and planning crucial for optimal outcomes.

What our patients say...

Took my daughter to get some fillings and she was pretty nervous. Sarah was her hygienist and she took the time to explain everything, be silly with her, and help her feel at ease. I have always hated the dentist personally, but since starting with Grand Ave, not only do my kids go there, but I return each time for my appointments too!” - Amber B.
